Devin McLaughlin
Sr. System Engineer, Apple, Inc.
As a Systems engineer for Apple, Inc, Devin McLaughlin provides technical consultation and demonstration of Apple solutions.  He assists higher education clients to effectively understand, select and apply Apple solution offerings including hardware, software and professional services.
Prior to coming to Apple in 2000, Devin worked for UNICOM where he provided network integration services, server and desktop support, and technology planning for customers with Macintosh and Windows installations. As part of Apple's sales agent program, Devin has been working with educational customers almost exclusively since 1992.

Simon Hunt
Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Data Protection, McAfee, Inc.
Simon Hunt has more than 20 years experience in software development, design and consultancy with fortune 500 companies. An accomplished consultant, software architect and designer, his vision and foresight have been the driving forces behind the technical success of the SafeBoot product range (SafeBoot has since been acquired by McAfee to establish McAfee’s Data Protection Business Unit).
Mr. Hunt took the reins for McAfee’s data protection product range when it was a single user product in its infancy. Through continued feature development, and by working with customers to realize their enterprise requirements, Mr. Hunt took the data protection product range from one of many niche players to the acknowledged leader in its market. Working as Chief Technology Officer in the SafeBoot group since 1997, and now acting as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Data Protection, McAfee, Inc., Mr. Hunt works to steer both the product suite and global consultancy teams.
Before working with SafeBoot, Mr. Hunt worked with other security product vendors such as Mergent International and Utimaco, and also had a significant impact on quality and engineer training at ICL Fujitsu where he was responsible for engineer training and consumer product support. 
Mr. Hunt’s exceptional track record of technical improvement is based on his belief in quality and expandability. He is known for his ability to quickly identify customer requirements and translate them into realizable product features which go far beyond “quick fixes.” Mr. Hunt is known for his ability to pre-empt future changes by building in enhancement capability from the beginning. 
Mr. Hunt received his B.S. degree from the University of North Wales, Bangor where he studied Marine Biology and Oceanography. He is a qualified BSAC scuba-diving instructor, and a Trustee of his local diving club. Mr. Hunt currently lives in Naples, Florida.

Thomas Lawler
Supervisory Special Agent, Federal Bureau of Investigation
Thomas Lawler is a Supervisory Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is responsible for coordinating the investigation of complex Cyber crimes in the State of Connecticut and the activities of the New Haven Evidence Response Team and the New Haven Computer Analysis Response Team.  SSA Lawler leads a squad of Special Agents, Intelligence Analysts, Computer Forensic Examiners, and Task Force officers who are tasked with investigating the following Cyber crimes:

  1. Computer attacks by International Terrorist groups
  2. Computer attacks by Domestic Terrorist groups
  3. Computer attacks by Foreign Governments in support of espionage
  4. Criminal computer intrusions and denial of service attacks
  5. Child predators who target children via online methods
  6. Child pornographers who manufacture, distribute or possess images of child pornography
  7. Criminal violations involving intellectual property rights
  8. Internet fraud
  9. Internet extortion
  10. Internet gambling
  11. Internet financing in support of criminal enterprise
  12. Internet obscenity

SSA Lawler has worked for the FBI as a Special Agent for 14 years and has held Supervisory positions in both the Cyber and Counterterrorism Programs.  SSA Lawler has also worked as a Cyber investigator, a Computer Forensic Examiner, an Evidence Response Team member, and a Hazardous Materials Response Team member.

SSA Lawler holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY, and was employed as a computer programmer with IBM Corp. prior to his employment with the FBI.

Denielle Burl
University of Connecticut Director of Risk Management.
Denielle Burl has dedicated her education and experience towards a career in higher education law and risk management. While at the University of Connecticut School of Law, Ms. Burl clerked in the Education Department of the Connecticut Attorney Generals Office. Upon graduation, she became a full time University legal specialist at the University of Connecticut, where she gained significant experience in all areas of Higher Education law including student services in general, constitutional law as it is applied in higher education, intellectual property, contract law, study abroad programs, student organizations, student health services, technology law, and privacy issues, including FERPA.

With experience in teaching, academic advising, mentoring and legal representation, she offers a uniquely well-rounded perspective to legal issues facing the Division. As stated, above, she possesses extensive higher education law and risk management experience. In addition, she has experience in student mentoring at the University of Connecticut School of Law, teaching and academic advising at Arizona State University, and academic advising at technical colleges in the Southwest.

Ms. Burl is licensed to practice law in Connecticut and New York and is a member of the American, Connecticut and New York Bar Associations.
